Adam Dean
Drums, Trigger Pads, Sequences
How long have you been playing?
"I have been playing drums since 1992. I actually had a false start of drum lessons between 6 and 7 years old, so it took some time to convince my parents to give me another shot at lessons a few years later! I had a friend in elementary school who was a good musician, and we had a dream band where he played keyboards and I played drums. Of course, that imaginary band never became reality, but I met my drum teacher and mentor that summer, and everything took off from there!"
What inspired you to play the drums?
"I’ve always liked the idea of sitting behind an array of drums and cymbals! I also liked how every drum kit looked different from the other. The instrument is truly down to the individual player’s build, posture, and drum/cymbal preferences. Even though I love many drummers and percussionists, there were two drummers that “locked me in” from the beginning: Phil Collins and Neil Peart. Phil for his pulse, groove, attitude, his classic tom-tom fills, and amazing drum sound. Neil for his meticulous attention to detail, his highly creative drum parts, his experiments with samples and electronics, and his many great drum kits. This is where all the fun was to be had for me!"
What does Eclectix mean to you?
"Eclectix is a diverse gathering of musicians from different backgrounds to play music that we love. I feel we have a unique chemistry that can’t be found anywhere else."
More about you:
"I am a very hard working musician (bordering on OCD actually!), and I’m really excited about being a part of a working band once again. I had considered myself somewhat retired from this scene for several years, then I received a phone call that changed everything! Once the original four of us got together for our first rehearsal, we had instant chemistry, and we knew audiences would respond to this! When I’m not working, I enjoy being with my family. My wife and two daughters are my pride and joy."
